FC Schalke 04 can count on the return of their star striker Edin Džeko for Saturday's crucial Bundesliga promotion decider. The experienced forward is fit again after a shoulder injury, providing a significant boost to the club's bid to return to the top flight. The Royal Blues are determined to secure their promotion.
Džeko, who sustained a shoulder injury at the end of March during Bosnia-Herzegovina's successful World Cup play-off against Italy, has completed his recovery. The 40-year-old striker has worked intensively on his fitness in recent weeks to be available in time for the decisive phase of the season.
Coach Miron Muslić confirmed the veteran's full fitness on Thursday. "Edin was on the pitch with the team today and took part in everything. He will return to the squad. When we need him, he’ll be there," Muslić stated. "He wants to get back into the attack and help."
The signing of the former Wolfsburg, Manchester City, and Inter Milan striker in January was a surprise, but it immediately paid off for Schalke 04. Džeko quickly established himself as a key player, scoring six goals and providing four assists in just eight appearances.
His impressive record highlights his importance to the Gelsenkirchen club's offense. With his experience and goal-scoring prowess, Džeko is now expected to play a crucial role in helping Schalke 04 make the leap back into the Bundesliga and conclude the season successfully.
