Karlsruher SC is losing one of its most important players: striker Fabian Schleusener is moving to Fortuna Düsseldorf for free after five years. The 34-year-old was one of the team's most successful attackers last season, scoring 14 goals in 35 games. Schleusener will receive a two-year contract from the Rhinelanders. Born in Freiburg, Schleusener has also played for 1. FC Nürnberg, SV Sandhausen, and FSV Frankfurt during his career. Other teams from higher leagues were also interested in Schleusener, but the striker decided to move to Düsseldorf. So Schleusener will become part of a new team being built after the relegation to the 3rd league. The transfer is a major loss for Karlsruher SC, which will have to do without its successful striker in the coming season. But the club will certainly look for a suitable replacement to fill the gap left by Schleusener.
