Karlsruher SC has a rich history that has also been shaped on the international stage by its players. With Dženis Burnić in the current Bosnian team, KSC fans can take pride in having one of their players participating in the World Cup. However, not only today, but in the past, numerous KSC players have made impressive contributions at World Cups. Thomas 'Icke' Häßler is one of these legends. He joined KSC in 1994 and was previously part of the German team that won the World Cup in 1990. Häßler remains the only player to have played in a World Cup match while under contract with KSC. Oliver Kahn, another KSC veteran, is regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of all time. He led the club to the UEFA Cup semifinals and had an outstanding career at Bayern Munich, although he often had to step back in the national team behind other goalkeepers. Jens Nowotny, also a KSC player, struggled for a long time for his nomination to a World Cup and finally made his debut in 2006. Michael Tarnat was another key player who excelled alongside Häßler in KSC's left midfield. These players not only shaped KSC but also wrote history at the World Cups.
